Routing wasn’t too bad, but not exactly “fun”. The Mini has a dual firewall so I had to get a big bit for the internal wall and a smaller one on the outside. Getting a hand up in the engine bay to the area that it exited the car was fun, had to have my kid do that piece.
I need to try to adjust the mounting position a bit and that will likely be a spring project. I made a mount for the front of the car but used aluminum and it’s bending so I need to break down and make a piece from steel. I wasn’t able to get the car in the air and did not do it when installing the tow bar which might have been easier. you end up with a loop out the front of the car unless you plan to remove the cable when not in use (we just leave it there). It’s probably one of the most economical braking system. I found the tow bar on FB Marketplace while we were on the road for $200, so didn’t take me long to make that deal.
There is a cable that you use to adjust the amount of pull that we leave connected to the tow bar and just have to hook that to the loop on the car, connect the tow bar and the security cables, turn in the light and drive away. I can do it in about 5 minutes and be driving down the road. (The wife drives the car into position and does the internal setup/ turn in the light).
