Should our toad be a 2012 4-door jeep

Hello, so we are thinking about a 2012 or later 4-door jeep for our MH's max 5,000# limit. Any reason why we should not go with this decision? Thanks.

They get notorious poor mileage are noisy and not the best handling road manners. I love them and have 97, 06 and 13 in the driveway. Be forewarned it can become an addiction. Jeep, Just Empty Every Pocket.

Should our toad be a 2012 4-door jeep

Lifted and armored and a bunch of other stuff. Don't check gas mileage. But on the rare occasion my wife drives the Jeep to work for a week instead of her Nissan Altima, she asks me what the heck is wrong with it - fills up the Jeep twice in the week whereas she put gas in the Altima every other week... But her Altima is a lousy rock crawler. (-:

Love Jeeps. Great toad. Poor daily driver.

Our Toad is a 2010 Wrangler 2 door. Tows like a dream, and is perfect for how we use it.

That said, wouldn't want it for a daily commuter. But that's not why we got it!

For Jeep. Have towed an '05, now a '12 Wrangler 2dr and you can't go wrong. Extremely easy to put in tow mode, especially anything after '07 since you no longer need to have the key in the ignition to tow. The 4dr will weigh in around 4200-4400. I went with the 2dr since it is around 3700. The Demco base plate and Blue Ox tow bar are a great combination for towing.

I considered buying a 4 door Wrangler for a toad instead of rigging my Buick Enclave.
The deciding factors were:

1. The Enclave is a great freeway car and gets good mileage.
2. I once had a new 2 door Wrangler Sahara that was terrible on the freeway and got bad mileage. If your mind wandered from driving, the Jeep headed for the ditch. It required constant tending at freeway speeds.
3. I thought the 4 door with the longer wheelbase might be better on the road. I heard that it is but it is really noisy unless you add extra insulation to the roof.

So, I now tow the Enclave.

Jeeps are noisy, bad gas mileage, ride hard and expensive.
They are the BEST!!!
Love our 09 two door Wrangler.
Easy to hook up and tows great.
Takes a special type of person to like them.
The only thing I would change would be to have bought a four door.
Maybe the next one!

I tow a 2015 Wrangler 2 door, X Package. It tows great and does what I want it to do and in comfort. My X Package has Leather Seats, a great sound system, GPS and all of the goodies that make a vehicle a joy to own. It does ride like a "Jeep", if you are looking for a soft ride, buy a car, if you want a really fun ride that goes anywhere and looks great, go Jeep. JH

please tell me about towing without a key. I have a 2013 JKU, do you not need to unlock the steering?
