To the OP to simplify what you have seen here take you Motorhome ready to travel as you normally travel and get it weighed, provided you are not over GVWR or an Axle weight rating subtract the actual weight from the GCWR that is the maximum that you can FLAT tow. IF at or under GCWR as long 't as you won't be spending a significant amount of time in the big mountains (Rockies/Sierra's) I wouldn't give it a second thought.
PS I read it as needed space for the dogs when using the TOAD not towing it.

looks like you didnt read the last half of her post. Heres what it said and I responded to
"The towing weight limit for the Class A is 5000 #. Will towing a vehicle that is near the maximum rated weight of 5000 # put undue wear and tear on a MH with the Ford V-10? I know, should have found a diesel pusher. Is it reasonable to tow a 4800 # vehicle if weight limit is 5000#. Our plan would include detaching and driving the two vehicles separately (no towing) when driving through mountains.

I did miss that or forget it there were a lot of posts to read thru, however if U was going to be in the mountains a lot I might try something to alleviate the need to separate the vehicles.

At just under 5,000 pounds empty, I guess it could be a toad. Canadair CT-114 Tutor. A bit heavier than my Ranger, but much faster.

You are going to put your dogs in a towed vehicle?

Just for clarity, will the dogs be in the toad when it is being towed?
