SMI stay-in-play

Does anyone know of a place that will work on the STAY-IN-PLAY unit like in the attached picture. It has power going to it but has just stopped working. If cost effective would like to get it repaired. Names phone numbers appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Call Demco. The should have a tech support department.

Demco was no help. This model was made before they bought out SMI and dont' support it.

Presumably, since Demco bought the SMI product, I would think they would not have immediately changed the design. Did SMI not pass along their technical documents? Does Demco have a repair depot? This just doesn't seem right. There should be 10 year support for discontinued products.

Perhaps the Demco box is compatible with the brake controller and you could buy a replacement box. Before doing that, call the old help line and see if it still works. 800 893-3763. These had a 5 year warranty from SMI, provided it was registered. The acquisition occurred in 2017. When I look at the Website, it looks like SMI is now Demco and they still maintain a presence in Newburgh, IN. It may very well be the same facility under a different name.

FYI, I have the DUO Stay-In-Play and there is a minor troubleshooting section in the manual. Have you tried all the suggestions?

EDIT, looking further into my documentation, I see when I bought my unit that I could purchase a lifetime warranty. Do you suppose that everyone who paid for one of those is out of luck?

Uggg. Thanks for bringing up the subject. I was just looking over my installation and found the brake cable that goes from the brake pedal to the floor broke. Got a new one ordered.

That is the number I called but it is Demco now. The person I talked at Demco was very nice. He said my unit was made in 2003 so way past the 10 year support. I have the manual but something inside is broke. I suspect it is the inertia part.

Open it up and look for something obvious like a broken wire or loose connection..

Be sure you measure the input voltages to it while it is in place. Your supply power could be bad.
