Snow and Ice Towing Toad
Short version of a longer story is that I put my brand new Verona 36 vsb in a new (to me) storage facility last fall, last month I was asked to move it out of the way for a horse trailer to moved out since I was blocking the door. To my surprise, they had parked a Class A next to me and I only had 2" of clearance on each side. I was able to pull my RV out, but no way to get it lined up perfectly to back it back in so I drove it home leaving my Silverado at the unit. Since I have a pad next to my shed, I was prepared to winter it at home.
To the point of my story, I drove my CRV toad back to the storage unit the next day, hooked the tow bar to the truck and pulled the toad home. I have done this a few times before on dry pavement. Storage is 45 minutes away and it started to snow on my way home, very heavy. The main roads were clear but my county road was snow covered. So I slowed way down to 5 MPH made the turn onto my road and the toad and truck fishtailed. Total damage to truck, toad and tow bar $5,000! As soon as I hit the snow, I had no braking control and slide sideways into a fish tail.
My warning to you is never pull on snow or ice.
