Sprinter towing
Good morning! Does anyone have experience 4 down towing a late model Sprinter? I have found older posts discussing this but perhaps I’ve missed more recent discussions. I know BlueOx sells a baseplate and Superior Driveline in Iowa sells a driveline disconnect or complete driveline with disconnect. I am looking to flat tow a Grech Turismo 2WD with a Newmar New Aire 3543. How does the towed Sprinter behave? Thank you!

Hi Arch. It is a 2024 if I decide to buy. Thanks for your response.

Unlike towing an automobile, you know it’s back there, but it’s not problematic. I have the long version, and there is a need to take slightly wider turns. I found it easy to adjust to.

I'm towing a 2023 170"wb high roof Sprinter. Inside I have my Rampage lift and Harley along with bicycles, paddle boards and other "stuff" . I installed a Blueox baseplate and had a local driveshaft shop install the Superior disconnect. I wanted to use an M&G brake 2.0 setup, but the brake booster and ABS hardware prevented installation of that unit. I had to go with an Airforce 1. I ended putting small external LED strips on the outside to the tail lights as MB uses pulse wave modulation to use a single filiimant light to serve as brake/tail and signal. It was just easier to do it that way. I may either add a bulb to the light fixture or wireup multiple diodes as shown below.
I've only had the Sprinter since early this year. First trip was to Key West, we are on the 3rd month of our second trip, No issues

Thank you USMCRET and PanJH for your helpful input. I completed the purchase yesterday. It’s a confidence booster to know others have experience with the installs and towing behavior. My biggest concern was towing and crosswinds in particular as it is quite a bit taller than my current toad, a Lincoln Nautilus. Oddly enough the Turismo curb weight is 4993 lb and my Nautilus is 4305 lb so I expect to realize a bit of a difference as regards weight but more wind effect. Thanks again for your comments.

Did you put the roll back tracks on your Rampage ? Ours is working good, but the Rampage and Goldwing are not playing well together. 5 years of hauling the Harley and never a problem, but have had several issues with the GW. I think it's a combination of the suspension travel and the lack of a high point to tie down. We're in the middle of a 7 week trip and I dread each time we load and unload. The Van itself is awesome. Love having the bike inside and out of the weather.
I've decided to ditch the Rampage and get a ramp made by National Fleet products. It's as easy as trailer door ramp and is 10.6ft long so it's not steep at all. A hinge on the left side allows it to open like a door or swing inside and out of the way if hauling something else. If you want to check it out is model # 9ALPC279

I didn't have to do the roll back... just raised the Rampage up on plywood about 3" to get clearance for the bumper. I've been using the Rampage since 2011 on 3 different pickups and now the van. No issues. That ramp looks like a nice setup.
