No real problem. Get and use them.
I use the RoadMaster BrakeMaster 9160 unit but that's for a MH with air brakes.
There are other cheaper, easier to implement braking setups for a gas rig.

My thought is, regardless of how the towing laws are translated, if I can add several thousand pounds to a coach and not increase the stopping distance then that would be a good thing.
The next big debate is what hardware to use.

I would hope he is looking for opinions on equipment...I use an SMI stay-n-play I have it in a Ford Edge currently but am removing it this weekend to put in my new JL that arrives in a couple weeks! Matter of minutes to activate/set it up and you are off!

There are 2 distinct types of braking systems.
1. Removable
- attaches to brake pedal and must be removed to drive vehicle.
2. Stay in place
- best type in my opinion
- no removal to drive
- simple hookup
On the stay in place there are several options from the cable types to the SMI Stay-n-play Duo for gas rigs. If you had a diesel then the options expand.
When deciding which to get decide which direction then look for reliability and convenience. If the cost is reasonable that is a bonus.

RVi3 is a winner in my book if you are interested in a removable unit.
Removable Compact Proportional and relatively EZ install... just need to mount & wire the break.away.

We have been very pleased with the Ready Brute Elite setup of towbar, brake and breakaway setup. Easy to install yourself and a lot less expensive than others plus lifetime guarantee. Mine or theirs, I am not sure

I’ve had good luck with the Brake Buddy. It is removable and self sufficient. Set-up and take-down only takes a few minutes. It can be dialed in to the correct amount of stopping power either on the unit or through the remote control. The company is outstanding with both tech support and service. My BB had a leak in the air tank and when I sent it in for service they fixed the leak and for no charge also replaced the compressor because they said the leak likely shortened the life of the compressor.
I traveled all over the US without supplemental braking and now realize I was mostly just lucky that I didn’t have to panic stop. The difference is marked and shortly after beginning to use the system, was saved not once but twice during panic stop situations.

I use the Blue Ox Patriot. I purchased it and a tow bar from a friend selling his coach so I did not research and choose this one over another so to speak. However it seems to be a good set in place brake system. About 3-5 minute to install, needs a 12v outlet which I ran straight from the car Batt. I can control the sensitivity from a remote inside the coach. I have a light weight Kia, previous owner had a big jeep...... on occasion I loose communication from the remote to the controller in the car but is not a big deal, may look into a booster in the future. Also my rear engine-electronice may play a part in that and a gas front engine may not be an issue ??????

Some systems to consider:
M&G fits most jeeps 100% transparant to driver of Jeep uses compressed air provided by RV, for gassers they provide a compressor
US-Gear Unified brake Decelarator. Electric operated system (They provide a charge line for the towed to prevent battery dran) Gives you the same in fact MORE control over your JEEP's brakes than a Semi has over his trailer brakes.... IF YOU KNOW HOW TO USE IT. very nice. and 99% transparant to driver of jeep (Ther eis a bracket you can see if you look.
Several other INSTALLED systems... Not as much control as the US-Gear but still very good.
Ready Brake (If you have not gotten a tow bar get the Ready Brute) his is a Surege brake system, also installed. Once installed it is self adjusting, A few issues but search forum for solutions (Simple solutions).
Box in the driver's seat systems like Brake Buddy Classic Even Brake, Apollo.
These advertise "No installation" but that is a lie you install them EVERY time you tow every install (even the ones i like) is a chance to screw it up. Plus you have to remove and store them to drive the Jeep. Major pain, I recommend AGAINST.
