Swapped from flat-tow to Dinghy --- still need brake buddy?

Hey,
We sold our flat-tow Jeep and got a minivan we intend to tow on a tow - dolly. The dolly has disc brakes, but wondering if we should also use the brake buddy as well. I was not sure if it would cause the rear wheels to lock up or anything like that. I am approaching the limit of the MH, so definitely want to ensure that it can stop properly. Thanks!

Totally NOT needed, could actually cause problems on slick road surfaces. Definitely could cause rear wheel lockup and excessive rear tire wear.

Brake Buddy not needed. Assuming they are working correctly and you have a brake controller in your coach, the brakes on the dolly would be sufficient.

Thanks -- that is informative. I don't think it'll change the info but the dolly has surge brakes (Acme Eez tow) not electric.

Guess I'll list the brake buddy for sale then. I'm trying to think about the physics of it. Obviously if there was a system designed to operate only the rear brakes of the towed vehicle that would be ideal. But brake buddy and cars brakes are designed to operate when all the tires are moving. Definitely don't want to skid out the rear of the van.

You could literally pull the vehicle off of the dolly if the Brake Buddy engaged before the tow dolly.

The tow dolly should be more than sufficient.
