Toad on a dolly chipping?

Bought a dolly to tow our car. I have never towed before so was looking for imput from those who have experience towing with a dolly. My question is......does your vehicle have any paint damage, chipping....after a number of trips? This concerns me because the car I want to tow is our primary car and fairly new. Thanks for sharing your road experience.

I wouldn't think that it would get anymore than actually driving it would...

I've towed my Kia Soul about 30,000 miles so far. It is our daily driver.

I see no damage beyond the normal stuff from driving it 100,000 miles.

Should get fewer rock chips on a dolly than towing four down, but more than driving solo.

We’ve towed our Mini Cooper S about 5,000 miles. No chips yet. Using an American Car Dolly.

Several on irv2 including myself blame rock chipping on the Factory installed Ad Flap on the back of the Motor Home. Many of us have removed it. I have been towing w/o it for 2+ years and have no chipping.

I have towed our car about 12-15k miles on a dolly, The only area I see a little abuse is on the mirrors, and it might just be me imagining things...plus it is an older car. as I think of it I could simply fold the mirrors in and that would solve the potential problem.

Same with our Kia Soul for 10,000 or so miles. Love the car and the American Car Dolly.

I tow the same Kia Soul as FL240. I also refueled his avatar back in the 70's, usually a little lower than flight level 420.
I have seen no chips in this car or the Honda Element I used to tow.

Always glad to see a gas passer. [emoji106] Ever pass any gas in the Gulf of Tonkin?

BTW, I forgot to mention we tow with mud flaps and the big chrome advertising banner.

We "Dolly" a Buick Verano on a American Car Dolly . We removed the advertisement stone flap at the rear of our motorhome and have no stone chips and the car arrives much cleaner (in my opinion ) than with the mud flap ! Those flaps cause stone chips . Get beside a motorhome with a stone flap on a dusty road and watch the swirl effect it causes . It creates the condition that causes stone chips .

In '71-'73 I spent half my life circling in the Gulf of Tonkin. TDY at times to Korat, UTapao, Anderson, CCK, & Clark. Pleased to serve.

I've wondered how effective those ribboned flaps that go the entire back width of an RV are?
