We have full coverage mud flaps behind the dual tires. They do most of the work, then we have a custom full size mud flap made to be 5" off the ground on the back. It has stopped the rocks and debris that are in the middle of the road and take flight from the movement of the coach creating a bit of wind. It also did a great job stopping squirrel remains from reaching our CRV.
After 95,000 miles our CRV still looks great.

The owners manual specifically prohibits the use of the protect a tow because it restricts air flow to cool the transmission. This is true for the Equinox also.

I am sure you believe that, but it just simply is not accurate. It "specifically" says.

Bumping this thread back up...
I've seen a lot of posts about the mesh, but what about a vinyl bra for the front? We've recently picked up a new Wrangler JL and I want to add additional paint protection for it, but not sure about the hassle of these mesh nets.
Any feedback on the vinyl bras for the front?

I have read where sand and dust can get under the vinyl bra and scratch the paint. I wouldn't do it. The Protect-A-Tow is quick and easy to put on and quicker to remove, fold up and store in the vehicle or coach. It's a very efficient and reliable way to protect the finish of any toad.

I have had a bra on a car before and it collects a tremendous amount of dirt under it and that was daily driving. I can't even imagine what it would be like behind the motorhome

I remember seeing rocks and mud sitting on top of the protect a toad as well. Has anyone seen that on theirs? It could maybe be light items that are thrown up from the side exhaust and lands on top.

I think that's all I needed to hear. I was suspicious of that issue, especially being behind the rig. Our older TJ I pulled behind was covered in mud and debris after a few really heavy downpours, so makes sense. I'll stick with the mesh net! Thanks for the replies.

This could possible happen if the front of the Protect-A-Tow is not supported with an extra bunge at the hitch of the motorhome to keep it from sagging. I have never found anything on top of the mesh. i removed the big stone throwing flap and do not have mud flaps that extend down below the body.

This would be a great option but I can't use it due to location or rear exhaust. I also removed the rear full length flap on ours. Hung too low and couldn't raise it.

We had to go with a shorter mud flap and 4.5" tall stainless to fit the mud flap on our Dutch Star.
Do you have wide and long enough mud flap right behind the tires? That will give you your maximum protection.
