I have a 2018 2wd honda crv. I use to tow my civic and all I had to do was run through the gears every 250 miles. Can I do the same with crv. Of course owners manual says no but so did the manual on the civic and I towed it for 10 years

Unless something BIG has changed, your newer 2018 CRV has a CVT transmission and CANNOT BE FLAT TOWED. If you read your owner’s manual CAREFULLY, there should be a section in there saying this vehicle is NOT towable with all 4 wheels on the ground (flat towing) If you only have the FWD version of CRV, you could dolly tow it.

What year was your Civic?
What kind of transmission did it have?

2001 civic with automatic transmission and all I had to do was run through the gears every 250 miles

And of course leave it in neutral

Well, you cannot do that with your CRV. The last year the CRV was towable 4down was 2014.
