Hey Wayne. I drive a 2012 MKX, but have never towed it. Just in case you're interested, here's the towing info from the manual...

RECREATIONAL TOWING

Follow these guidelines for your specific powertrain combination to tow
your vehicle for personal travel (such as behind a motor home or a
truck).

Note: Put your climate control system in recirculated air mode to
prevent exhaust fumes from entering the vehicle. Refer to the Climate
Controls chapter for more information.

In case of a roadside emergency with a disabled vehicle, please refer to
Wrecker towing in the Roadside Emergencies chapter.
These guidelines are designed to prevent damage to your vehicle after it
is hooked-up to the RV or tow dolly.

Front-wheel drive (FWD) vehicles can be towed with all four wheels
on the ground or with the front wheels off the ground by using a tow
dolly. If you are using a tow dolly follow the instructions specified by the
equipment provider. If you are towing with all four wheels on the ground,
refer to the towing instructions below.

All-wheel drive (AWD) vehicles can be towed with all four wheels on
the ground or with all four wheels off the ground using a vehicle
transport trailer. Do not tow your AWD vehicle with the front
wheels off the ground (by using a tow dolly) and the rear wheels
on the ground; this will cause damage to your AWD system. If you
are using a vehicle transport trailer, follow the instruction specified by
the equipment provider. If you are towing with all four wheels on the
ground, refer to the towing instructions below.

If you tow your vehicle with all four wheels on the ground, follow these
instructions:
• Tow only in the forward direction.
• Release the parking brake.
• Place the transmission shift lever in N (Neutral).
• Place the ignition in the accessory position (refer to Starting in the
Driving chapter).
• Do not exceed 65 mph (105 km/h)
• Start the engine and allow it to run for five minutes at the beginning
of each day and at each fuel

Thanks Sarah.

I didn't think the 2012 required engine start at fuel points, or at the beginning of the day. I know the 2013 requires it and again every 6 hours of towing. But that's okay, as I can start it especially with the remote start. "Must not forget to turn off," "Must not forget to turn off," "Must not forget to turn off," "Must not forget to turn off," yeah, right. It'll turn off by itself when it runs out of fuel, hee hee!

I'm not positive but it looks like I'm heading in that direction. Just have to find the right match and all the technological gadgets I wish to have.

Do you have the "adaptive" cruise control and braking on yours?

Going to bite the bullet and get the 2011 MKX.

Sarah, the 2011 manual does say to start at the beginning of each day and at each fuel stop.

Strange that fuel stops can be 200 miles or less or in my case up to 500-600 miles, although typically I never go that far before fueling.

As for the beginning of the day, that's an easy one as hooking up the engine is started and you have to jockey into position. Nor problem to let it run.

Wow! No one else as rich as us two, eh? (or in debt!)

Hey Wayne. I hope you enjoy your new Linc. I don't believe I have the adaptive cruise control but I'd have to look on the original window sticker to say for sure. Duh. I like the air conditioned seats best of all.

I don't know what the heck it will have and it will take my a year to figure it all out, hee hee! I'm not sure if the Adaptive CC is an on/off device by the user. I would assume it is. If you are in cruise and approach a car that is going slower it will automatically slow you down and resume when the "space" distance increases again. I believe it is an item that is paired with the collision warning device.

Don't have it yet. it is coming up from Florida. I have the original window sticker and the car fax from the dealer. It was Mfg in Canada, Shipped to Florida, and put in service 9/2010. It was a private lease and now has 22,554 miles on it. It is "bordeaux red" in color. At first I had reservations that i was doing this, but now I'm looking forward to it.

The Saturn we have just sold has done us very well. Long story for another time on why the change.

I'm surprised that there are not more owners of the MKX piping in on this thread.

I believe the MKX (and Lincoln vehicles in general) are one of the best kept secrets. I owned two Cadillacs (2007 CTS, 2010 SRX) before buying my MKX last year. There is NO comparison in ride, fit and finish, etc. I have been very pleased with my Lincoln and I think you will be, too. (Not knocking Caddies; I loved both of them...they just didn't measure up to the build quality of the Lincoln IMO.)

I do have the collision avoidance feature, blind spot indicators, etc. Sometimes all the "bells and whistles" can be daunting.

Yep

I said that in an earlier post, regarding , 2013 Explorer Limited. Best in it's class safety, even with its knee airbags. Quiet, all safety features to protect US! Love the AC seats, inflatable rear seatbelts, heated steering wheel, curve speed control, etc, etc, etc...

Go Ford

PS: Don't tell too many people, we don't need their price to be raised to match "imported" vehicles

Did I mention quiet?

Ah! The story saga.

The Bordeaux Red 2011 Lincoln MKX arrived late Thursday afternoon. We waited until Friday after it had been serviced, but not detailed, to go see it and test drive it. It drove like an MKX drives, great. However, the leasing owner was a smoker and it reeked of smoke. There is a "smoke bomb" that will eliminate the odor, but! Also when I was getting out of the vehicle I noticed that the seat was "rubbed" as if someone got in and out like I do, by sliding. It's okay if I break a vehicle in that way, but I don't want to purchase one that already has a 22+k mile start. And then, there was a cigarette, or similar, burn hole in the roof upholstery. Not a good site. All fixable of course. We told the salesperson to get it detailed and we would be back to look at it when it was cleaned up and make a decision. While home it was decided that it was not the car for us. I called the salesperson and said to start looking for another one and it did not have to have the sliding roof package.

So this morning I started looking at MKX's on the internet. So I am showing DW the packages and I run across one that has everything that I think I want. Don't need the moon roof. I write the 5 digit dealer stock number and we head to the Lincoln dealer. I have my "ducks in a line," and who to contact. We walk in, I ask for the contact, the salesman goes to get him and I look at the MKX on the showroom floor. Hey! Wait a minute. "Those numbers on the windshield are the one I have written here!"

A few hours later that is the one we drove out with.

All that is left to do is put a Blue Ox base plate on it and get a Blue Ox tow bar.

And DW said, "Happy Father's Day." (That is probably for the next 5 years)

Don't you just love impulsive buying?

Question.
My rig's hitch is at 15" and the Edge/MKX body attachment point with Blue Ox is at 26 1/2". So I would need a 12" drop hitch inverted to be close to level? My engineering background raises a flag. Should I be concerned?
