tow bar base plate for 1999 vw beetle

i just purchased the manual trans beetle and looking at how to hook up tow on a limited budget. the base plates are out of sight. i fail to understand why i cannot get a tow bar and have someone fabricate a base plate to interface between it and the vw?

any enlightenment? or advice?

thanks,

Well Jerry,
First of all, welcome to a great forum for RVers. Second, I'm not sure what you consider "out of sight" in terms of paying for things. You see, in the design and fabrication of a base plate for ANY VEHICLE, lots of research and development has to take place. THAT'S MANHOURS! Not much of that kind of stuff is done for FREE.

It takes time and effort to setup something like that. Something that is not too hard to install, is SERIOUSLY STONG, will do the LEAST to detract from the looks of any vehicle it's being applied to and finally BE A REASONABLE COST! Whether you or, anyone else for that matter, is on a limited budget or not, really doesn't come into play. They have to charge a certain amount, just to get it to market. Anyway, hope you can understand.
