I just washed mine with car shampoo to get the road grime off it. Then, I used WD-40 and a rag to clean the extension arms under the rubber boots. WD-40 also works good for the joints. I keep the cover on the tow bar when it is in storage.

We go to Quartzite most every year. Have BO inspect, refurbish, and tune every other year. Keep it covered when not in use. That's pretty much it.

Your post inspired me do a search on cleaning my Roadmaster towbar. I watched a video and in the video they say to not use WD-40, but a spray silicone instead. Simple process that can be done with the towbar attached to the RV.
Thanks

Good Info on the Silicone - does not attract dirt and promotes less friction on the Plastic Washers.

Main thing is to Keep an eye on the Nuts and the Play in the unit.
