Tow bars
I am looking for help deciding which tow bar and breaking system to go with. Roadmaster, NASA ELITE, Blue Ox.

I've used RoadMaster for years. One thing is that I was about 20 miles from their factory, then they moved an it's about 10 miles now.
For a while there were fairly numerous reports of one model Blue Ox failing at the pivot ball. They seem to have that cured now.

We use a Demco system with Air Force 1...no problems and hookup take minutes.

NSA Ready Brute if you have a gas coach. The best bang for the buck out there.

Everyone has an opinion on this topic. There are good manufacturers for the towers and there are good manufacturers for the braking system. For the towbars, be sure to get one rated for your towed vehicle's weight. Towbars are weight rated.
Do your research and find the towbars and braking system that best fits your needs.
After a lot of research, we decided on a Roadmaster towbar system, and an M&G braking system.
At this time of the year, there maybe some sales on equipment.

I am using an 11 year old Roadmaster Sterling towbar. This has been used for the first 10 years to pull a Honda CR-V and the last season to pull a 4100 lb. Ford Edge.
For braking I went with the Brake Buddy Classic II. It's simple and quick to place into operating position and I felt it met the towing laws of most North America states and provinces.

I too use the NSA product. Lifetime warranty and trouble free simple braking built in the tow bar are what sold me. BTW I have a DP and do not know why I would want to use something else because of the simple installation.

could you elaborate " Blue ox failing at the pivot ball" Ill bet there is more then a few Blue Ox users interested. That includes me as I've been using Blue Ox tow bars for at least 20 years/

I use a Roadmaster Sterling tow bar and SMI Air Force One braking system. Is it the best? I don't know, but it works well for me. If you want a dependable and solid performing braking system with no set up issues (once initially installed), look at the SMI AF1.

There were several reports on the forum over the last few years. I don't remember what sections though.

Put a checkmark by my name for the roadmaster product line. As far as I’m concerned they’re the original and they do it better then all the copycats. As far as supplementary brake I would endorse the RVI2 product line. The gentleman that operates this company was the original inventor of another famous name supplementary brake system that he sold the rights to. Please note I said RVI2 and not three. I realize the three is the current up-to-date technology they are offering but I’m not convinced that I would like all the improvements. Sometimes simpler is better in my book.
And that’s my two cents. Couple that with another dollar and you can get a coffee at the place with a funny clown and the big french fries

Agree this is bunk no problems with Blue OX used them for 10 years - never read of any problems -
