Tow dolly

I have a used (6 years)Master Tow dolly and planning to do some maintenance. Does any one know if you should put some kind of lube on the on the pads on the swivel plate? Would a standard axle grease be OK or one of the graphite based be even better or none at all.

Thanks

From their web site:
The carrying pan steers for your car by swiveling smoothly on polyethylene pads which are maintenance free.

There is also no maintenance required per the owners manual. Only thing is to make sure the big bolt has some threads showing past the locking nut. This bolt is used to adjust the swivel per the manual so you may need to adjust it if it seems loose.

We also have a 6 year old Master Tow towdolly. It has worked very well for us and no real complaints. We did get new tie down straps last year off e-bay. And we just put 2 new tires on it after we had a blow-out on the left side tire. Took the fender out with it so had to get a new fender too. Checked with a local dealer and even with shipping from Master Tow, it was much cheaper to go through Master Tow themselves.

So, how much tongue weight is normally put on the hitch when using a dolly? I understand that it probably varies with the vehicle being towed. Would seem that most of the weight is on the rear tires of the vehicle and the tires of the dolly.

I was told by Acme you can add 10% of your vehicles weight to the trailer tongue weight.
