Dolly users, I just acquired a dolly (EZE-TOW) that can be stored vertically and my wife is now raising multiple questions/concerns. Here we go:

What do you do when you go to a park that requires you to remove the car before going to your site?

Do you need to add the length of the dolly when selecting a space?

How do you secure your dolly (to avoid theft) when away from your site?

Do you leave the dolly attached to the hitch in your space?

I don't add length, I just mention that I have one and can I store it on the site.

I slide it under the rear of the RV so it's only as long as the tires and ramps. You don't have ramps, so yours will be shorter.

Nobody steals tow dollys, can't pawn them.

Like twinboat, if it's a back-in site I park the dolly at the back of the site and back up to it. Sometimes I park over it to save space, but if that's not an issue I usually put it back on the hitch so I can just pull out when time to leave.

Either way I put a padlock through the hitch. I'm not really that worried about someone stealing it, but I keep a padlock in it while traveling so I just store the lock there.

There is usually plenty of room near the registration area to take your car off the dolly. A couple of times we had to drive to a nearby parking lot to take the car off or put it back on.

Most online registration sites take tow dolly and vehicle length into account if they ask if you are towing. I always mention it in the free comments or when on the phone to make sure that they know the motorhome + dolly + vehicle length.

As mentioned before, there is no incentive to steal the dolly. We have never locked it up when at a canpground or in the storage lot. The only time we lock it is when we are in a larger city and staying at a hotel for maintenance etc.

A couple other suggestions...
- of the dolly still have the original wheels, they may be at end of life. Most manufacturers only put 10,000 mile tires on their dollys. Go ahead and buy some road worthy tires that will last 40,000 miles. It’s not that much more.

- check the dolly straps and make sure that they are in good condition. If they are torn or excessively frayed, you probably want new ones.

Thanks for the great replies! Dolly is new with a spare tire so no concerns about tires or straps.

I tow my vehicle to the campsite unless it is especially difficult to unload/load there. I pull off to the side of the road and unload the vehicle, then ultimately park the dolly in front of, to the side of, near, or underneath the rear of, my motor home. I do have a hardened chain that I chain it to whatever is nearby.

When we had our Canyon Star (gas) I could usually store the dolly under the rear of the MH. But I recommend leveling before you put the dolly under there (especially if you have an air suspension).

To make that easy I took a 2x10 scrap and mounted a hitch ball on it with a 4x4 to add some height. Then put 4 swivel casters under it.

This allowed me to push the dolly anywhere I wanted with minimal effort.
