Towed battery tender

Anybody use a solar battery tender for their flat towed vehicle? Thoughts on yours?

TIA

I use solar battery maintainers on some of my work trucks that don't get driven regularly and they do ok for the most part but they don't do any real charging. My towed stays in a garage and is connected to a 1.5 amp battery maintainer that does well but it is connected to a wall plug.

If you have available power one that plugs in is far better as it will be working even when the sun sets.

I use this when towing the car. It is a daily driver so no need for battery tender due to non use.

What I was thinking is using a solar maintainer for the towed battery while it is being towed. My Blue Ox 2022 requires it to be plugged in to the lighter socket with the ignition in the run/on position. Was hoping to find a solar maintainer to plug in to the lighter to get some juice flowing to the battery and plug the Blue Ox into a lighter socket that adapts to the USB port to power the electric brake.

Was trying or avoid running yet another line from the MH to the towed and have yet something else hanging off the front. Two base plates, a 7pin connector and a breakaway switch already looks like a pile of stuff.

Joe if you have a 7 pin on the toad already then you most likely already have power coming from the coach. It’s just 2 wires from your existing 7 pin on the toad to something like a RVI toad charger that would get installed right near the toad battery

The simplest solution is a charge wire from the motorhome (via the 7-wire, as was suggested above).

Those solar panel maintainers will likely not produce enough amps to keep the battery charged.

The best thing to do is sell the blue ox and get a NSA ReadyBrake. It's all mechanical and doesn't need 12v power to work.

I can tow our toad with just about any vehicle with a 2" receiver, just hook up and go.
