Charge Line

Towed my 2005 for over 10 years with charge line. No battery change to larger size and never a dead battery. Just set up a 2013 and was glad to install a commercial charge line. I believe it was a Hopkins brand. No issues so far.

Charge line

Running a charge line do you put a fuse link in line ? And how big ?
Since you were running a 05 which I have. Do you need to stop while traveling at intervals to run the car ? Any other pointers much appreciated.
Thanks Jeff

I use a 30A fuse at the toad battery and a 30A self-resetting CB on the coach side. Why both? To protect both the toad and the coach. Why 30A? Because it will support a slightly depleted toad battery and the Brake Buddy load. I also put a Schottky diode inline with the charge wire so the toad battery can't try to keep the coach batteries up. The toad's poor little charging system just isn't up to that particular challenge (smile).

The answer to your other question is above in the thread.

We have towed a 2001 and a 2006 crv and have never had any battery problems. We just follow the instructions in the manual. Put transmission in drive and then in neutral then turn off engine. We make sure everything is turned off.

You are using a ReadyBrute, you don't need a charge line. Just pull the ACC fuse or install a fuse switch.
I towed my 07 with the small battery all day with no problem as long as I pulled the fuse. I also had navigation and that wouldn't shut down unless you pulled the fuse.
Read your owner's manual.
