Thanks for joining us. Glad you found this forum. Many good folks, like you, help many good folks here.

Please look at this thread: http://www.irv2.com/forums/f85/2014-...ch-212991.html

I have one change I would recommend. Move the switch from where I located it. I often bump it with my knee and shut it off when it should be on. With care you can mount it in the blank position in the switch cluster under the ECON switch. There is a lot of plastic in the blank that needs to be carefully removed. The alternative is to find a switch that will fit the blank and do the job.

Modifying the fuse was a bit of a trick. Because the fuse legs are aluminum they can't be soldered to. You need to be creative when mounting the lugs on it for the extension wires. With needle nose pliers you can pull the fuse out of the case, cut the fuse bridge and reinstall the legs into the case. (I think I would use supper glue to keep them aligned if I were to make another adapter fuse.) After the case is built and the legs are secure drill a very small hole in each post to attach the terminals. Clip a notch in the terminal loop and squeeze each down to fit the attaching screws. Run the screws into the fuse case and epoxy them securely in place. When this fuse case is reinstalled the terminals will need to be custom bent. Install the new fuse holder of your choice on one side and to the switch you are to mount, and the other switch and fuse terminal together. Install the components and new fuse in the holder and test.

I hope the pictures help with the words here. Any fuse that fits the slot can be used because the fuse link is being removed. This is simply now an access to the fuse box terminals.

Mine has served well to date, except for the location I chose. Because my switch has a pilot light I can see if it is on and if the circuit is functional. I have traveled all day and the car starts fine when I park for the night.

Why Honda chose to locate this fuse as they did is strange. This switch is a good solution.

Let me know if I can give you any other advise. I look forward to seeing pictures of your setup.

Happy trails,

Rick Y

An easier approach: buy one of these http://www.napaonline.com/Catalog/CatalogItemDetail.aspx/Switch-Rocker-Panel-Assy/_/R-BK_7511089_0006495567, one of these http://www.napaonline.com/Catalog/CatalogItemDetail.aspx/Fuse-Holder-In-Line-Mini-Fuseholder/_/R-NW_784667_0362425446 and one of these Amazon.com: GTC CT6100 Fuse Socket Connector Kit: Automotive. The NAPA rocker switch fits perfectly in one of the blanks just below the Econo switch.

I would have never thought to look for a fuse socket connector. How do you know of this little gem?

Happy trails,

I have to confess, someone posted this solution on a Honda CRV forum, so I can't take credit. But it is an easy fix.

Flat Towing Honda CRV 2014

Are all models of 2014 CRV able to be flat towed? Some models say FWD, some say 4WD/AWD. I am looking at a 2014 EX CRV. I appreciate the advice of many on positions of transmission and installing a switch to bypass fuse.

Yes, the 2014 EX can be safely towed. Just look in the owner's manual and follow the simple procedure! You will probably want to install the fuse bypass switch.

Yes, the fuse bypass switch is great. I use the one made by Roadmaster and Camping World installed it.

Me too! Pricy compared to DIY but worth it. I still think the Oddesy batter tray and bigger group battery is the best option. If the car isn't running just leaving the doors open to clean etc can send ya running for the jump box.

Used 8GA wire and 30 amp resetting breakers at each end wired through the 6 way plug.
To upgrade this. After my wife died in August 2016 I bought a '14 CR-V EX-L, came set up to tow including almost no parking brakes and the regular brakes shudder. So, time to rebuild the brakes.
I installed the Ody battery tray and battery and the CR-V already had a charge line and so far I haven't had any problems.

Yes, all models of the CR-V are towable four down up to the 2015 after which they are no longer towable four down.

The front wheel drive ones can still be towed on a dolly though, the AWD's have never been towable on a dolly.
