It was easier to run the fuse for the 50amp to behind the license plate rather than to inside the vehicle. It works great that the last step is to turn off that switch after locking the car with the key fob like normal. The key we leave in the ACC position does not have a chip and cannot be used to start the car. So the alarm (horn) still works.
When going back into the car, we can flip the switch without needing to raise the hood, to use the tailgate or use the key fob to unlock the doors.
The switch is not visible. The one under the driver's seat isn't visible either. Both operate the same direction Up for driving and down for towing.
For normal driving with the front plate on, all the connections have some protection from sun and grit. We saw an Equinox this past summer with it all behind the plate, my thanks too that owner for the idea. And thanks to the folks that helped us understand why we had the horn blowing the first trip (before switches), so we could fix it.
