We were RVing up at 3 Rivers a few months ago and I spotted a rig about my size (25' Minnie Winnie) that had a clean looking tow dolly for his 3 wheeled motorcycle along the lines of a Spyder or Ryker.

Anybody else out there tow their Spyder, Ryker or like type 3 wheeled motorcycle behind their rig?

Where did you get your tow dolly? Make?

How does it tow?

If the drive wheel/s are on the ground then the transmission output shaft will be spinning - unless the machine is designed so that the transmission gets lubricated in such a configuration then you're apt to do damage. That's why most rear wheel drive cars cannot be towed on a dolly - they need to be towed with the drive wheels off the ground.

The first question would be, why dolly such a small vehicle? And three wheels at that? Why not simply get a small low boy flat bed trailer and run your Ryker or Spyder onto that? That way you could back it up if necessary and, you'd have ZERO wear and tear on the Ryker's or Spyders drive train. As has been stated, unless the drive system is designed to be protected IF AND WHEN TOWED, then you'd have some potential for serious damage. If you backed the Ryker or Spyder onto the dolly, then you'd have the single front wheel taking all that stress and you'd have to lock it down so it couldn't steer.

To me, waaaaaaaaaaay too much trouble and the potential for damage. A small trailer would be the answer but, that's just me.

Aren't those type of rides double front steering and single rear drive? Putting it on with the rear on the dolly would keep the drive train from rotating. Of course it would be like putting a rear wheel drive on backwards which is not recommended.

I have had a Spyder's for several years and have towed many ways, but NEVER would I consider a dolly. The front would hit if towed rear wheel was in a dolly and the rear drive would be spinning if front wheels could be somehow set into a dolly without destroying the front. The drive line wear I am sure would not be a good thing and certainly not endorsed by Can Am.
Get a trailer if some form, as this will safely allow you to have an easy time taking your fun with you and not take the chance of substantial damage and premature wear of everything including the soft compound tires.

The T-40 101 Cycle version is the only one that could possibly work for the OP. And even then, he'd have to make sure his hitch mechanism could handle that kind of tongue weight as the Ryker/Spyder's total weight PLUS the majority of that dollies weight is on the tongue. AGAIN, the logical answer for the OP is a trailer.
