Towing a Ford Edge
Im looking at towing a Ford Edge AWD, flat tow. Anyone have experience with this vehicle? The manual states how to flat tow however the local Ford mechanic does not think it is a good idea. Any one with experience towing a Ford Edge Please let me know. Thanks

Have a look in the 'Toads & MH Towing' section, and also do a search. There's quite a bit of discussion about Edges.

yep what year is the edge?
up until the recent body change the AWD was towable four down. best pace is your manual that came with edge, then double check ford website under owners or search recreational towing in the search engine
new body is flat towable but there are different procedures for earlier versions
ours is a 2012 and its easy ..just put her in N , well after everything is hooked up

What year and what type drive, FWD or AWD.
I have a 2013 Lincoln MKZ, FWD, sister to the Edge of that year and I have been towing it 6 years since 2013.
So, what is your year and drive configuration.

Towing a Ford Edge
Thanks for the feed back. I ended up buying a 2011 Edge limited AWD. Working on setting it up to tow behind the Camelot this week. Thanks

I’ve towed a 2016 Edge more than 40K miles in three years without any problems, but in 2016 not all models (engine/transmissions) were flat towable. As someone else suggested go to Ford’s website and look up the owner’s manual for the year in question. Find the section (usually near the back of the manual) on how to tow the vehicle for recreational purposes.

I meant to say 2013 MKX, the sister.
Enjoy the 2011. Follow the owners manual for towing. One of the items it will mention is when to stop and run the engine for 5 minutes. In my personal experience it will all depend on the type of terrain you are in. Hilly country will cause the brakes to come on more frequently and deplenish the battery charge. I solved that two ways, first, I'll stop every two hours or so to stretch the legs and run the TOAD engine for 5 minutes. Second, I carry one of these Lithium Jump Starter.
I keep saying I'm going to add a charge line one of these days.
