Nope. Pull the key, lock the doors. Has no steering lock. Also puts no miles on it while towing.

You need to have this looked at, you should not have to disconnect your battery and miles should not be racked up.Does the dash mileage readout stay lit up after key is removed?

My question was Will it rack up miles? The odometer will light up when the door is open if key is in or not. I have not set it up to tow yet as I am still waiting for the parts. I was going to get the kit from Cooltech that had the battery disconnect switch but wont now if it is not needed, thanks to this forum I have saved a few bucks to spend on fuel!

I have a 2012 Jeep Wrangler Sport, All you have to do is start your jeep and put the transmisson in ( N ) then shift the transfer case into ( N ) then put the Transmisson back into ( P ) shut the motor off and pull the key out. and thats it. Hook up and down the road you go. No fuses or battery to deal with.

Sorry about that, no it won't rack up miles. I got one of those battery disconnects from cool tech and it is just laying on my work bench as I did not need it. The wiring harness from them is the best, plug and play!

Our '07 JK did have a steering wheel lock and I did have to disconnect the battery as the key had to be "on" while being towed.

Our '12 has no lock, no need to leave a key in the ignition. Ours is a manual trans. Put the transfer case in neutral, the trans in 5th gear and away we go. No miles will rack up on the odometer.

When electronic odometers first came to the market you needed a key to read it. The law was changed, you have to be able to read it now without the key.

What year is your Wrangler, and what does your Owner's Manual say under recreational towing?
