Towing Cadillac SRX
Looking for input, we are now full timing and find that our Jeep Liberty Limited a little to cramped, as per FMCA tow guide it shows that the 2010-11 Cadillac SRX 2 wheel and awd are towable anybody towing one? we have the Blue Ox tow bar and they show they have the base plate for the SRX, wish I could tow a 2008-09 as it would fit the budget a little easier, any comments appreciated

Blue Ox baseplate will present you with the opportunity to use removable tabs. if you get the little black Blue Ox Bag, (it's about the size of a pocket book) all the towing stuff fits in the bag and is easily stored.
At 4200 pounds you will find that the Aladdin might work well for you and it's made of aluminum so you don't have to struggle so much.
Go with the bulb kit. The taillight bulbs get permanently installed inside the existing lenses but get a competent installer.
For auxiliary brakes, consider an SMI auxiliary brake called the Air Force 1 for RDP use.

You could save a few bucks with the GMC Terrain (similar size) or the slightly larger GMC Acadia. Or the Buick Enclave, which has styling very similar to the SRX. They are all towable without mods.

There are some Cadillac SRX 2s that are not towable even though the book and most dealers think they are, I think it is the turbo model. I got this info from a thread on the Tiffin RV Network a gentleman bought one specifically to tow and afterward learned that it was not to be. He eventually worked a deal with GM for a different vehicle but it took and extended period and of course dollars.
If I remember correctly there was an unnoticed addendum to the book which stated it was not towable.

That is correct - the Turbo is not towable and GM states that on its web site. It has a different transmission.
