Towing Jeep behind Uhaul or Penske truck rental

Were were planning to rent a truck for a cross country move, and wanted to tow our jeep wrangler. The wrangler is set up for towing behind our class a and have auxiliary braking (roadmaster) triggered by the brake lights. However, i noticed the Penske truck rentals have the ball mount welded to the frame, instead of a receiver like I have on the motorhome. Is there an adapter that goes from a couple to a receiver, so that I can flat tow my jeep behind the rental?

I guess I can also rental a dolly, but that is another expense I was hoping to avoid.

The only issue I see is it would be an extra swivel joint and may introduce an issue ,sway ,wobbles ect.

Wranglers can be towed with 4 wheels down, or with 0 wheels down - towing with a dolly will damage or destroy your transfer case. If you can't tow with a tow bar then you'll need to rent a car hauler and put the Jeep on that, with all 4 wheels off the ground.

Have you talked to the rental company about towing a vehicle with their truck?

Some don't allow it.

Failure to plan on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part.

True unless the drive shaft is disconnected...

I don't think your Jeep is Dolly towable, you have to flat tow it or put it on a trailer.

Uhaul has both a welded on ball and a 2" receiver tube. I towed our JK from NY to VA with ours when we moved.
