Towing Toyota Tundra
Howdy folks,
Towing question . I have a Tiffin Allegro 30’ with 8.1L gas engine on a Workhorse chassis with an Allison tranny. I usually pull my S-10 Chevy truck with no problem. Can I pull my Toyota Tundra 4 door with 5.7 L 4 wheel drive truck?
Any pros or cons would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Radencic

Best to check the owners manual for the Toyota truck.

No, it is NOT towable !!! Nearly all Toyota / Lexus products need a MANUAL shift transfer case with neutral position to be towable 4 down.

What weight is your RV rated to tow? That is another consideration.

You don't have to remove the driveshaft. You can install or have installed a driveshaft disconnect which allows you to disconnect your driveshaft from the drivers seat. Developed by REMCO but now owned by Superior Driveline in Des Moines Ia.

If your Tundra is a 4x4 then it might be ok but verify its " Flat Tow Procedure" by reading the owners manual first.
What is the " Max towed" weight rating of your coach?
What does the Tundra weigh?

You kidding right? You making a one-way trip and not doing any sightseeing along the wy in your Tundra?
Seems like a messy and work to me.
I have a Jeep Trailhawk. Push a button, put in neutral ad ready to go.
Good luck!

Toad Tundra
Wow, I didn’t know there is a disconnect for the driveshaft from the driver’s seat. What a fantastic idea. I have to look into that a little deeper. If you have any contact information on driveshaft disconnect that would be much appreciated. Thanks

As already mentioned, Superior Driveline Drive Shaft Disconnect is the one most now use. They are the ones who carried over the Remco design and you'll sometimes see both names used in reference for the same product.
They actually use a Tundra image pic as one of the examples on their website ( HERE for Superior Driveline DSC website).
Here's a dealer for it but there are others too:

Just crawl under and check it out. Instructions for engaging/disengaging on the website. That find just saved you $$$$$. I am guessing it has a baseplate and maybe some tow lights installed. You still need to be very sure of the weight /towing limit of your RV. You will be very happy with the Toyota, mine is at 260k miles and another 30k following my RV.

Go to remcodsc.com for more details. I had mine installed on my 2010 Tundra(4x2) at Dan's Service Center in Elkhart IN.
