Transferring toad towing gear to new Jeep??

We have a 11 Jeep Wrangler with one year old AF1 system and Blue Ox baseplate on, and are looking to get a new 18 Jeep JL and are wondering if we should/could transfer any of the equipment to the new Jeep.

Any experiences or opinions?

The AF1 for sure can transfer. Not positive but I think the baseplate may have changed.

Doubtful about the baseplate transferring to the new Jeep.

What I might suggest here is, look up the part numbers for any and all towing parts you already have for your present Jeep. Then, look the same ones up for the new JL you're thinking of. Maybe or maybe not the part numbers are the same. But, just in case some are, well, there's your answer on at least some, one, none, who knows?

The baseplate should transfer, but. If it was originally installed to Blue Ox specs, red Loctite would have been used on the bolts attaching it to the frame. Good luck with that removal.

The JK & JL baseplate will have different PN’s for Blue Ox and for Roadmaster.

The AF1 can be transferred to your JL but the trick will be to find a good location under the hood. I’m looking at putting mine on top of the fuse box.

I installed the BO baseplate on my JL.

If you are going to replace the front plastic bumper with a steel one and a winch, Rock Hard 4X4 makes tabs that bolt to the bumper to hook the tow bar to. No base plate needed. Plus it helps to turn a Mall Crawler into real Jeep.
