Trouble with Transmission pump

My pump works fine for the first couple of hours then the alarm and red light start coming on at first intermittently then on full
If I slow down they go away for a while but sooner or later I have to pull over
After a rest they work again for a while then the same problem
I think the problem is overheating but I'm not sure
This happens every time I tow
Anyone else have this problem?

Remco , fluid pump ?
Has your pump set up ever worked for extended periods, ? Or has it always been this way ?
Any discoloration of the car's trans fluid ?
Have you added any rock shields to your hitch or the front of the car that would restrict air flow through the rad of the toad?
Checked the fluid pump's wiring , power and ground, and the toad's ground to the coach?
Serviced the car's trans lately ?
Contacted Remco ; or the pump's manufacturer; , about your problem?

When the alarm/light comes on, is it an indication of temperature or pump failure? A remote sensing thermometer would tell you the temperature.

On the Remco , system the alarm is triggered by a pump output pressure sensor, so can be, erratic pump operation, foaming trans fluid, trans fluid dropping below pump pick-up. I'd think the fluid would have to be boiling for the pressure to drop, that should show up in fluid color.

Your car's trans ; 6speed; was introduced , the year after I retired from 34 years working at a Chrysler Dealership, no dipstick, that's just plain scary.
File that under " What were they thinking "

It may be dropping pressure due to heat.. But, that said, You are going to have to work this out with Remco.

Have you felt the transmission cooler to see if the fluid it being pumped through it? If car works normally on it's own, unless the pump is seriously undersized it shouldn't be an issue. As I suggested before, a remote sensing thermometer could tell you a lot.

Second thoughts , and of course , more questions.
I would find out if your car is equipped with an; oil to water; ( trans cooler); oil to air ; or both. My Caravan has both.
If only , oil to air, then the overheating & pressure loss is a possibility. You may have to look into setting up the toad , radiator cooling fan to run while being towed, to cure your problem.
The other possible is that the pick up fitting for the pump, was installed in the wrong place. Too high in the trans pan, where , when the fluid temp gets high , the pump may suck in foam and drop pressure.
Was the pump installed at a Remco authorized shop, a Chrysler dealer or other, location ?

Double check the location of the fluid output fitting that was installed into the tranny pan. Mine was off just a little bit but it was enough to trigger alarms when starting, stopping, and other fluid sloshing times. The solution was to order a new tranny pan and new fitting and do it the right way. No problems ever since.

Please keep us informed of your findings, I've been looking at a 2012 Caravan with 3.5l & 6spd trans , as my new ( to me ) toad, and would like to be aware of any potential problems.

Any chance that the connection wires are vibrating loose in transit?
