Turn Signals on TOAD not working correctly

I bought a 2005 honda CRV from individual who had been towing it with a monaco, I have a 2006 journey and when TOAD is hooked up to RV it does not display a left turn signal. right turn signal shows both tail lights blinking.
the brakes and emergency blinkers seem o.k. I did hook up a separate ground wire between RV and CRV but it did not appear to help. any thoughts

Ja,
At the risk of maybe being a bit academic here, if I were you, I’d start from scratch here. By that I mean, start with the motor home trailer plug and, using a test light, do a full function test on each pin in that plug. Find out which pin is/does:
1. Right turn/brake
2. Left turn/brake
3. Tail/marker(aka “running lights”)
4. Ground

Clip the ground wire from your test light on a known, good ground. Then test each pin while a helper initiates each function from the drivers seat of the m/h. Note all the results and if you need to, draw a small schematic on which pin serves which function. Once all this done, you will be assured of a well functioning plug and that all is correct on that side of the equation.
Now, plug in your umbilical to the coach and perform all the same tests on the toad end of that umbilical. Again, note all results and location of all functions on that end of the cord.
If all is well to this point, you now have start checking the coordinations between the pins in the toads plug, vs the reactions of the toads tail lights. You can do this by simply using a car battery and, clamp a wire from the battery negative to a known good ground on the toad. Now, with a helper, used to observe the rear tail lights, you very carefully, use a wire from the battery positive, and touch each pin (making darn sure you’re not touching more than one pin at a time). Your helper will note which light/function on the rear of the toad happens, when you touch each pin. Make note of each pin and, now you’ll have to match up all the functions from the umbilical to the toad. Good luck.
Scott

Good advice Scott. When I was setting up my Jeep for Toad service I practiced using my GMC truck. On the Jeep I had one blinker that kept working intermittently. Everything appeared ok. All of my other trailers work just fine behind the truck. I had just wired the Jeep myself with a plug in module from Hopkins. The umbilical cord was used but looked very good one each end.

With a test light and helper I started at the 7 pin on the truck. All was good. next I checked the umbilical cord and it tested good on the toad end. Next I used a battery and tested the 6 pin plug and wiring I had just added to the toad. It tested perfect. For a moment I was stumped but decided to check the toad end of the umbilical cord again. BINGO. Intermittent function of the blinker light.

I popped the Jeep end of the umbilical cord apart and there it was. A loose and corroded wire. I decided to just change the entire toad side of the plug and start with fresh wire for all the connections. A quick look at the truck end of the cord proved it was in very good shape.

Problem solved.

I have something similar to this printed out and I keep it in my garage. You should always wire your vehicles to match the standard for 4 pin, 5 pin, 6 pin and 7 pin. That way you'll never have an issue when changing vehicles.

Those 6 pin and 7 pin plugs corrode pretty quickly I found out. If you replace it use one with brass pins. Fill the back with dielectric grease fill with silicone and tape up.

Most Coaches has the new style 5 wire hook up with a wire to each of the R and L signal one for both brake lights and one for both tail lights and a ground the 5 wire system, if you wire the 4 system (which is the old USA system)on your toad with out a Xover box on your coach you will be scratching your head
