Two Different Base Plates - Recommendations?

I'm looking at baseplates for our 2019 Toyota Corolla (manual transmission).

See attached photo. The base plate on left has flat mounts which my research shows are designed for tow bars that have a cross member connecting between them. This seems overly complicated and makes me want to get the base plate on the right which seems like it will be easier to connect/disconnect. Comments? am I missing something?

What tow bar do you have or are planning on purchasing. Make sure the tow bar connection is comparable with the base plate.

I don't have a towbar yet. I'm putting together all the pieces now. I am planning to get a roadmaster towbar and can get one to fit either of these base plates - just need to decide which base plate is "best" so I can get the matching tow bar.

The flat 1 with a crossbar is required if you planning on using a car guard.

Some vehicles require the crossbar for the extra strength, some don't. If you are going to use the Roadmaster Alaska package you need the mounts that the crossbar has.
My CR-V came with the full package. I converted it to the non crossbar mounts after checking with Roadmaster.

For a Corolla use the baseplate on the right with the removable connections. I tow a much heavier Equinox with the same version baseplate and have had no problems.

I looked in to this for my Jeep.
The base plates with the cross bar will let you mound stone shields.
The one on the right will not mount stone shields.
Also the Roadmaster 576 All Terrain Tow Bar with the funkey
quick disconnect safety cables will not fit the right one.
