Use Curt Echo Brake Controller for trailer?

Changing MH for trailer towing and encountered this attractive option.

Anyone have experience to share? Thanks

Saw that nobody replied to your post. Did you finally try the Curt Controller? I have a sprinter and will be towing a cargo trailer. Picked one up and have yet to use it.

What are your experiences? Any secrets? Loading the trailer this week for a trip cross country and really want to know what to expect.

Thanks,
STeve

The brake controller uses an inertia movement to activate the trailer brakes and works seamlessly. There is a short delay in applying the brakes and having the trailer engage but you only notice it when you release the truck brakes and the trailer brakes releases.

A new development we experienced occurred after driving in a heavy rain. The 7 pin receptacle outlet on our truck slants upward and filled with enough rain water to short the electrical circuit between the light power and the brake power. When starting from a red light we noticed the trailer brakes were dragging ended. After a short time the brakes started dragging which felt like engine power problems experienced when ignition systems get wet. Since we were driving a diesel we stopped and removed about 2 ounces of water from the 7 pin receptacle and everything returned to normal.
