Vehicle Towing
New here and I am sure it has been discussed ... but ... which vehicle do you recommend for four wheels down towing behind a Class A diesel? My Toyota RAV automatic isn't going to do the trick. Thanks!

Vehicle Towing
In the end it comes down to personal choice but some vehicles are better suited for 4 down towing.
My choice would be a vehicle that required the least amount of changes to make it towable. Then a vehicle that can quickly be readied for towing or driving.
Using these guides will help in which are easier and suited. The list are not all inclusive as some vehicles can be towed with more substantial modifications.

Btw we have two vehicles setup.
Suburban and a Jeep. Suburban was actually an easier setup and is well suited for towing. But we pull the Jeep majority of the time now.

So I'm guessing it isn't a 2001 RAV4?

Something I learned a couple years ago. My brother was looking at a used Ford Escort to tow behind his moho.. I think it was a 2010, but that's not my point. The dealer said the car was towable and even the owners manual in the glove box said it was towable. He went home and called me and said he was going back the next day to get it.
Just for fun, I googled the owners manual for that vehicle and found 2 or 3 revisions. The latest revision said it 'wasn't approved for 4 down towing'.
if you do get a used vehicle, come back and discuss on this forum before you buy it and I might also suggest googling for more current owners manuals.
If you go new, there are quite a few cars and trucks that might meet your needs. Jeeps are very popular. You said a Class A diesel, but didn't mention make/model. All have weight limitations, some more restrictive than others.

Maybe reading and posting on http://www.irv2.com/forums/f45/ would be better suited for this question.

To the OP:
Put your MH information into your signature
Take a couple of minutes to fill out your signature with information about your motorhome (MH) so we can better offer advice. This will really help in all future posts too.
You do this by:
1) Going to the top of this page and click the top left tab named “User CP”
2) Look at the menu on the left and scroll down to “Settings & Options” and click “Edit Signature”
3) In that text box type all the information about your MH. Year, model, length, mileage, any aftermarket extras installed and so on.

Thanks. On my iPad I cannot get the signature bar to slide open, so it will have to wait for when I am at a computer, it seems. But ... we have a 38' Coachmen Sportscoach ... 2004.
