Wagoneer Toad Brake Wiring

I have a 2023 Series 3 Wagoneer that I want to use as a toad. Base plate installed. (BlueOX from ETrailer). My RV mechanic will not install the brake light harness as it is not “plug and play” and involves identifying the brake vs the directional signal wires and “cutting into the wires” to install the diodes that control the signals from the coach’s harness.

There is only one post I can find on this, and it’s a bit too technical for me. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Look at the videos on eTrailer. There's probably one about how to install your wiring harness. You could also call the manufacturer of your wiring harness and ask them for advice. They can probably tell you how to install it or refer you to a nearby installer.

I had the same problem on my Grand Cherokee L. I ended up using a multi meter to test each contact on the wiring harness to map which is which. Had my wife go through each combination while I checked for 12v on each pin.

Took way less time than trying to find an accurate diagram.

Mopar makes a wiring harness for their vehicles. It's very pricey ($500) and is quite the job to install as you have to pull apart body panels. When done, it works well, is isolated from the system, but it also requires that you have power at the RV connector.

I would use it as a last resort as I installed one and it was a pain. But it's an option.

You could make it easy on yourself and use the Jeeps 2” hitch. Get a 2” receiver, bolt on a piece of 1 1/2” X 1 1/2” aluminum tubing and mount some nice looking lights to that. Make it so it sits close the Jeeps bumper. It will look good and you wouldn’t have to splice into the complicated wiring.
