It’s a bit modified, but that’s fine with me as I’d like to have the ability to do some off road driving out west. All of that seems to be done well. It’s got almost no rust, and for a rust belt car, it looks darn good underneath. Got what I’d say is a decent deal given todays used car market. I will say in my search that the calling the prices “all over the place” is an understatement.

I was never much of a Jeep person, but I have to say pulling the doors off and the front of the roof and going to dinner last night was a really nice ride. I’ll have to get mirrors for that and probably foot pegs and I’m sure some other odds and ends. Next up, moving the AF1 from the excursion over and getting some brackets for the bumper or going with a mount. The bumper, while seemingly solid, is a little thin for my taste to tow from. I’ll have to study it some more.

So far, my only issue is that it seems a bit underpowered for the tires, which are heavy MTs. Those will get replaced at some point. I’ll also consider a regear in the future. Overall, pretty happy with it! I welcome advice for setting it up to flat tow along with tips and tricks!
Jeeps are great toads. We towed our 2013 behind (2) motorhomes for over 40K miles. When not being towed it was my daily driver. I had zero issues in 120,000 miles. I towed it using a BlueOx towbar and brake system by Air Force One. Our Jeep was a 4 door Sahara model with no modifications, standard tires and wheels. Two years ago, I upgraded to a Ram 1500 4x4 so that we would have more room and improved towing capacity.

Your Jeep will run free and easy @2400 RPM. Better acceleration and it will hold the speed better on hills/mountains. It'll also be better off road for slow maneuvering. I never liked my JKU Rubi for any distance on the road and sold it after a year. My current off-road Jeep is a stretched AEV TJ (109"wb) on 40" tires. The 4L runs 2600 RPM @ 60 mph with 538 gears and likes it. The 3.6 liter would be even better at 2500rpm.

So, I was looking at the engine compartment for the AF1 placement today and looks like over the battery is clear but not much room in other places. Where did you mount yours?

On the 2013 we found room behind the windshield washer tank in front of the ABS system. That was on the right side looking from the front, opposite side from the battery.

Thanks! I'll take a look at that area. I had in my mind that the AF1 had to be mounted flat, but I'll take a look at the manual. If it an go vertical, there's definitely more available space.
