What can you tow?

I think I know the answer to this but I wanted to see what others think.

I pull a jeep wrangler as my toad, can I connect a trailer to the jeep?

For the record I do not believe this is legal, but one of my camping buddies pulls a trailer behind his 5th wheel and it is legal. He is arguing there is no difference but I think there is a difference in the eyes of the law.

Can anyone answer this definitively?

Double towing is legal in some states. With some varience in allowed combinations. For example, in California your senario of a trailer behind your Jeep would be ok if the jeep is on a towbar and the total length did not exceed 65'.

Not legal in FL, but some get away with it.

It's so disputed that even the name of it starts arguments...is it?:
"A Double Tow" like stated above.
Or
"A Triple Tow"
Like: https://rv-roadtrips.thefuntimesguid...triple_towing/

Basically - it is legal in some places - requires vehicle #2 to be a fifthwheel in some places - requires a special license in some places. Clear as mud, right?

Safe travels
