2003 Jeep Liberty 4X4 flat tow. Before that it was a 2003 Honda CRV. We do a great deal of off-roading so the Jeep is a good dual purpose for us.

‘16 GMC Sierra Crew-cab 4WD. Not as easy as earlier Chevy and GMC models to setup but not bad.

2017 Chevy Equinox tows great, installed a switch that disables one fuse, just a flip of a toggle switch and we’re ready to roll, battery stays charged, no miles on the odometer.

2011 Toyota Yaris
Have towed 5 speed 2011 Yaris with ‘08 Diesel pusher, 2010 Navion, 2016 Forest River class C, and until last year switched to Ford Pickup and 32’ Grand Design. Yaris has Roadmaster towbar, plate, and brakes. No longer use it to be towed, but like it so well and with good air and over 40 MPG just decided to keep it and keep short mileage trips off our 3 other vehicles.

Not all good suggestions because there are variables not considered.
First of all you need to decide what you need at the end of a leg: i.e. Something to keep you out of the weather, or something that will go 4-wheeling or just something to get you around.
The latter can be as simple as a collapsible E-Bike or Scooter up to a small car.
4 Wheeling? Lots of choice just keep it light
Big luxury boxes like like Cherokees and Explorers etc, big and heavy and will drop your gas mileage more than the others, especially in hilly country.
Will you be 2 of you or more? That can mean the difference between a Scooter, a Smart Car or a Tahoe.
Need A/C? Keep that in mind.
FLat Tow or Dolly tow?
Many times its cheaper to uber and not tow when you add all the costs to implement a toad plus the wear and tear on the toad.
A lot depends on your destination or how far you want to go.
We have just opted for 2 E-Bikes and so far I am impressed. They fit on the basement, easy to park, easy to get going + pack up and are super light. Won't be great in rain but then a taxi takes care of that. In 5 weeks on the road, we could not use them for 2 days.
Good luck.
