Had same problem on the Flex before I added a simple charge line from the RV to the car battery. $10-$20 in parts?
I had to put car in park to try to start it , then with dead battery you can’t shift out of park into neutral to roll it out of the way or tow it!

I did add a fused cigarette lighter socket off the battery for the TowMate but it draws so little power that I can leave it on for days and not be concerned about Toad battery power. I also like not needing to do anything except push the Neutral Tow button and go. Don't even need to stop to run the engine periodically.

That’s a nice car!

Hook up the umbilical cord and break away, install the brake system, turn off the car pump the brakes and run the test. Last is to open the hood and turn the two switches off.

It tows and tracks VERY WELL! I was a little concerned at first about its total weight (4240lbs), but I have towed it almost 10,000 miles. It is great behind the MH on the flat lands or the mountains, two lane roads or the Interstate highways.

It is our daily driver at home. It is big enough when the others want to ride with us. I made the right choice for us. I love our Traverse as a toad and at home!

What year Traverse do you have? And fwd(2wd)? We are currently looking for a used one to flat tow. Probably a ‘16-‘17. Need the 3rd row seats. Currently dollying a 2013 T&C minivan behind our class C, but want to swap to flat towing

Just wondering why you have a problem with battery running down. I have been flat towing for 20 plus years and never had a battery run down while towing.

What was good for 20 years does not relate to current new toads.

During our 13 years on the road, we towed a 1994 Grand Cherokee, 2012 Equinox, and 2014 Equinox and never ran the battery down powering the Apollo Brake unit we used. But when we switched to a 2018 Equinox, we twice had a dead battery after after towing. The electronics in the car that allow the steering and other function to work while being towed use more battery power.

We added a Battery Charger from the motorhome and all was solved.

It is a 2010 2WD that has 65000 motorized miles and 12000 towed miles. No problems at all. I put 2 fuses on switches (a big 70 amp battery switch and a smaller 20 amp switch) to go on the 50 amp fuse and the smaller for the 15 amp I needed to pull. I have diodes on my rear lights and a charging line from the MH to be sure the car battery stays charged. I don't know of a mark that has been put on the Traverse. The two tow dollies I have owned did a lot of damage to the cars towed. I have said it before and will say it again, I HATE A TOW DOLLY!

It might be on my list of to-do's. I installed one before, but was avoiding it this time. Easy DIY, so I guess I have no excuse.
