I tow a 05 Jeep Liberty. It is a great vehicle at 4000lbs. The 4WD manual transfer case enables you to put it into neutral, nothing else to do. Unfortunately they no longer make this Jeep. The new Cherokee offers a ActiveDrive II that has neutral. This is the first year for them so may not have much tow reviews yet.

2009 Saturn Vue XR 4 cyl auto. 4-down with blue ox base plate and tow bar, trans in neutral and ignition fuse pulled (I use a fuse switch). Don't even know it's there. New Chevy Captiva is identical car.

Glad I gave up the dolly!!!
Have you ever tried or thought of a direct connect battery charger. If you have a 7 pin harness on the MH and 6 pins on the toad, you can get one for about $50 and it will charge the toad battery from the coach as you drive. Some have a trickle mode so that it won't overcharge. Once installed, there's nothing to hook up or worry about.

I am able to get about 3 days towing when I disconnect the ignition fuse, but occasionally in my senior moments I had left something else on and found myself charging the toad battery. Not anymore.

Wrangler's from 2012 up have non-locking steering columns and are a breeze to set up for towing -automatic or stick. I like that it is a fun ride, tows well, and that goes for either the 2 door or 4 door unlimited. I'm towing a 2012 2 door Sahara now and we like it may get a 4 door down the pike if we ever have to own only one vehicle. PS-Rubicons are sprung a little harsh and unless you plan to do aggressive off roading I would recommend saving your money.

Well I guess I started quite a thread here. I got the Ford back with a new transmission and took it right over to a Honda dealer and traded in on a CR V. I drove three cars today, The rental the ford and the Honda. I sure hope it is as good a toad as many of you have said

Ford C-Max. Hybrid so good mileage. Put a "toed" charger on it via the plug using the supplied hardware and have not had any problems.

First, Cars, mini vans, Pick up s and other light trucks can be divided into 3 groups when it comes to towing.. Strangely JEEP falls into all 3.

One group can be towed 4 down simply by adding tow gear (base plate, tow bar, aux-brakes and lights) and nothing more Example:
Four wheel Drive JEEP with MANUAL transfer case (most of them, not all)

Some can not be towed period, must be trailered
Example, Jeep with Full Time All Wheel Drive (Electronic clutches etc)

Some can be towed with modification: Example. Rear wheel drive Jeep.

I have towed: A 1992 chevy Lumina APV, modified by adding Remco Axle lock, This vehicle towed very light.. You tow by putting TRANSMISSION in park and "unlocking" one of the half axles,, The differential turns free so it acts very much like a trailer and there is no power to the wheels.

I currently tow a 2001 Dodge NEON automatic, with a Remco LP-1 Lube pump, this electrically operated pump circulates transmission fluid and keeps the tranny from burning up, You tow in NEUTRAL (Towed once in park but only for a couple hundred yards)

What Id like to tow: 4WD Jeep with manual transfer case. Several reasons, one being I'm a big guy and it is easier for me to get into JEEPS cause they are built for bigger guys.. Another is there are a couple places I go where 4WD would be nice to have (Though I've done it with Front wheel Drive)

But basically google Remco Towing, and enter the particulars of the ride you are looking at.. Most mods run 1000 to 1500 installed.
