Wrangler Safety Cables

I'm setting up my 2017 4 door Wrangler as a toad. I want to connect the safety cables to the factory tow hooks. I can't see any reason why I can't simply slip the ends of the cables over the hooks. Only problem is I haven found any way to do it. The thimbles of the safety cables are not large enough, no snap links seem to be large enough. Has anybody done this and what did you use?

Wrangler Safety Cables

I bought these and hooked them to a roadmaster safety cable.

Sorry, the wonders of iPads. I'll start where I left off. ...from Amazon, $14.85 per pair. You can look it up on Amazon.com. These are more substantial than factory item from Blue Ox. One of those original ones came off. Fortunately I spotted it.

Our base plate came with a place to hook them, yours didn't ?

Whatever you get, ensure it has the fail safe strength to control that nice toad

Are those large enough to fit over the factory tow hooks?

Yes. But I want to use the factory tow hooks for the safety cables.

Yes, as long as they are the standard size tow rings.

Just wondering WHY you're real insistent for using the factory tow hooks when you've already experienced the difficulty in trying to use them? As a suggestion, here's what I thought of for our '15 JKUR. They are two, 1/2" diameter "Eye bolts", inserted to the ends of the front cross member. They and the frame area are plenty strong for the job. Just a suggestion.

I guess I'm not sure what the "standard size tow rings" means. I have the factory tow hooks. Is there some kind option you're talking about?

Maybe I wasn't clear. I have a factory bumper and factory tow hooks.

I was looking for some way to simply connect the safety cables to the factory tow hooks. Not looking to buy a new bumper.

Because I don't want to have to get on the ground and crawl under the Jeep to connect the cables. I haven't experienced any difficulty using the factory tow hooks. I'm just wondering if anyone has used them and how they did it.

There are multiple options for factory bumpers and you didn't specify which one. I was thinking you were trying to connect to the tow rings on some bumpers.

My fear of using the tow hooks is that you cannot guarantee the safety cable would stay secure.
