1987 Fleetwood Tioga switch?????

Hello everyone, I have a question about my Tioga. I have purchased this wonderful rv from a friend and he doesn't know the answer either. I have a switch in the compartment where the shore power cable is. If you are looking at the shore power cord, where it comes out of the rv it is on the right hand side inside that compartment. It is a rocker that says on or off. I have switched the switch to both on and off, with no change to anything. It appears to be totally stock, no off color paint and is the same type of switch that is located throughout the rest of the RV. There seems to be no change to anything with the switch in either position, shore power plugged in or not. I would appreciate any help, I have the owners manual and it doesn't say.

That switch could control any number of things. My first guess, as you say you see nothing when it is used, is that it controls a light somewhere. Is there a light in the electric bay? How about a light on the outside of the coach in the vicinity of the electric bay? If the bulb is burned out or there is corrosion in the bulb socket so it doesn't make contact, you would not see any results when switching. Look around and see if there is any other light that does not work in that area.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Bob

Oh, and welcome to the forum.

Since you said same switch throughout the coach, I'll will assume it controls something 12v. So I'm thinking a light switch for that compartment. Is there a 12v light fixture in there? Just a guesss of course until someone comes along that knows more about that era of Tiogas.

I have a 89 tioga and just took a look in my compartment and there is no sign of ever having a switch in there.

I finally figured it out. I left the switch on and walked around at night there is a light next to the sewer hose storage. The switch in the electrical compartment controls this light.
