Thanks

That is a great new engine that works well with the proven 6 speed transmission. Your fuel economy should be 1mpg better than the previous drivetrain (6.8L-V10 with 6-speed). More than just power, comfort is also improved with less engine noise because it does not need to rev so high to make the power.

Keep your cruising speed between 60 and 62 mph and your trip-average fuel economy should be around 11.5mpg.

I speak not from personal experience with the new drive train, but from I have read from others along with my own experience with our 2007 E350 chassis.

I get 9.5-10 mpg with mine and never tow anything.

FWIW, didn't buy it for its fuel economy

I have that same engine in an E350 chassis on a 2021 Thor Axis 24.1. With over 7,000 miles of fill to fill data I get 12.5 on a flat interstate driving in the low 60s, no wind, no tow and 11.5 on windy, hilly secondary roads, no wind, no tow, driving in the mid 50s..

I have a bunch of travels in this year across the USA, I hear lil complaints on the new ford.. a few spark plug wires and a trans sensor..

MPG reports 9.5-11.5 seems popular when staying in the 65mph, not hauling

A good friend has a e450, 32ft class c. hauls a 7x16 loaded , 7 people and atvs ..I did one trip with him in my old 460 30ft.. He still beat me in MPG with 7.5-8 and barely hit 7.2 mpg, it was a foot to the floor trip , PA to NC thru VA mountains.. I was able to keep up mostly, he would pull hills better..

So IMO after that trip, Ford has done well. in power and MPG from a 1996, 460 to the new gen in almost the same CU in.

I get 11.5 mpg at 68 mph or 12 mpg at 62 mph not towing, but I have a class B+ that rides low and aerodynamic compared to other class C's.

Best combo Ford has made in years. 7.3 V8 gas with 6 speed trans.
