5 Star Tuning Demonstration in 26' Class C Ford 6.8 (E-450)

I thought some here might get something out of this.

5 Star Tuning demonstration of improved shifting going up a grade in my 2013 Fleetwood Class C RV. 26' rig pulling a 4,500 lb Jeep Wrangler JKU. This was recorded in the rolling hills of eastern Tennessee with the cruise set on 65. You can see that it does a very small shift with the RPM going from ~ 2,400 up to ~2,700 for the grade, then immediately shifts back down to ~2,400 RPM at the top of the hill. The stock tune didn't work anything like this. It would shift straight to the 3,500 RPM gear, and frequently didn't shift back down until LONG after topping the hill.

I'd w.a.g. it at a 5% to 6% grade.

How did the 5 Star effect your gas mileage?

Did the Five Star tune on my last E350 class C. It helped with the shifting and off the line pick up. I did not see any nor did I expect any mileage improvement. I expected performance improvement and that is what I saw.

I agree with NRR I have a 2012 E-450 V-10 , 4x4 32’ motor home , put 35 inch tires on it , transmission shifting was terrible, put a 5 STAR ⭐️ tune in it 100% better shifting n down shifting , no fuel ⛽️ mileage gain but worth it ALL day

Thank You for posting this.

I have a 2014 Class C, 28ft, pulling a JK (2-door), so we have very similar setups.

To be honest, coming from a 1990 Class C with the 460 V8, the V10 is a hundred times better, I'm wondering what all the fuss is about

It pulls the Jeep like it's not even there. I've noticed some screaming shifts when on Cruise Control, but when driving myself it seems quite well behaved.

Regardless, I'm going to keep it as-is this year and look at a 5Star for next year, based solely on what I've read on these forums.
