AGM batteries recharge more quickly than wet acid, using the same charging amperage. AGM batteries are truly maintenance-free with regards to handing liquids and the cleaning of battery terminals, but every type of battery requires charging maintenance.
I'm an AGM fan and have many on boat & MH.
I agree with the maint free but the faster charging is more marketing than fact. See

The initial charge acceptance is only a small portion of the complete charge of batteries. A short charge (couple of hours ) only gets you part way there. A full charge takes 10-15 hours and is important to do about once/ week to keep batty capacity long term.

Thanks to all who responded with great info. I made the change to AGM last week. No more bruises and bleeding for me.

I keep my RV at a storage facility and have no way to charge it during the winter. What advice do you have it I switch to AGMs?

Remove batteries. Take them home and put them on a "smart charger".

I leave 3 - 8D AGMs in my boat during winter storage as they need 4 p I eple to get out & replace and it's not necessary. AGMs have a low self discharge rate if charged and disconnected.
Charge them FULLY and disconnect battys for storage. I check V each spring before reconnecting and they typically run 12.5 - 12.6 V on my 8 year old battys.

I have a 15A outlet avail for my MH storage and use a quality maintainer (Batty Minder) for house & chassis battys. I have kept unneeded / sparevAGM battys on maintainers for up to 10 yrs before putting in service and they performed well.
