Anyone driving a class C with advanced safety aids

Hi,

After driving a Ford Expedition for past 4 months with every drivers safety air available I would like to have the same features on a RV. Currently driving a 38 ft class A.

I am looking at models in the 25-28ft range.

Does anyone have any experience with these aids in a RV?

I especially like the lane departure wanting, adaptive cruise and it will bring a vehicle to a stop.

Thanks,

Stephen

We are driving a 2021 Coach House 272 on a 2021 Ford E450 chassis. It has the safety features. Love the adaptive cruise, OEM TPMS and lane departure warning. Thankfully have not used emergency braking. New chassis is great with the new 7.3 engine.

Our 2020 Winnebago View on a new-gen Mercedes-Benz Sprinter chassis has good driver assist features.

Thanks all,

I am watching what comes out on the Ford Transit chassis also, I really like the idea of all wheel drive. With a set of winter tires it could be used year round

It would be so nice while on the open road, put the vehicle into "auto-pilot" and get up from the driver seat. The technology exists today though not in such vehicles.

I believe we're a LONG way from the driver of an RV being able to get up move around while on autopilot - if ever.
What happens if the autopilot swerves or hits the brakes or just hits a big bump in the road, and the 'driver' falls and hits his head or breaks a bone. Now we have an incapacitated 'driver' with the RV merrily going on its way. If no one else is in the RV then it sounds like a recipe for trouble.

My example given was a bit too simplified.

Of coarse the vehicle needs to have the smarts to park itself if the driver fails to return in good time. But like I said, the technology exists today in other vehicles. Just input your destination and the car takes you there. I would be fine inputting a truck stop 100 miles away.

What I really want is a 25ft model with all the safety items and all wheel drive. Unfortunately that means a new vehicle which I can in no way afford at present.

My issue is my class A is just too hard to drive for more than 4 hours a day.

At this point I’m not ready to bet my life on the self driving technology. Not yet ready for prime time…

After all these years and numerous versions and updates, Windows occasionally still goes schizoid.

I hear you on that. What I am interested an RV that can keep up with traffic, Larry me of what others are doing and stop me in a hurry.
