When you unplug the harness, the motor is free to spin. At least that is my understanding in all of my troubleshooting of these horrible designs.

But, there's no way that voltage could be present at all times. Otherwise, the battery(s) wouldn't last that long when the rig went too long without engine alternator or the convertor/charger feeding them. There's gotta be something more to this.
If the system does work this way, wouldn't it be easier to just hit the battery disconnect switch rather than unplugging the motors?
