Battery Compartment

Hello Everyone,

So I been noticing a lot of road noise coming and couldn’t figure it out why. Today I finally looked under and there is massive cut off for the battery compartment where 2 of the house batteries are placed.

So my question is. Can I block that cut off with some foam and leave small opening for venting ? There’s no way you need such a big cut for vents.

I own 2019 Outlook 25j

Any advice would be great.

Thanks

You sure can. A few square inches of venting for flooded batteries is more than enough, I would probably block off that entire hole if you have seams or gaps in other parts of the compartment to allow a little air exchange. Pink or blue sheet insulation from a box store glued to the sides of the compartment would serve as both insulation and a bit of sound deadening and it's impervious to moisture and battery acid. Reducing ingress of dirt and road spray will go a long way towards keeping your batteries clean.

Suspect closing that hole will have ZERO noise reduction? Maybe consider sound dampening ABOVE batteries? How is this open to/ seperated from interior?

Agree.
A very small hole will allow entry of a large amout of noise. Sound reducing doors require good gasketing as well as high mass to block the sound.
