We had our catalytic converter stolen fall of 2020. Our coach is in a storage facility. When we took it in to be repaired they said they've had many to replace. I like to be proactive so I painted the cat red, installed a cat strap, put sand tubes around the cat, mounted battery powered motion lights on the coach and battery powered camera on the coach. Companies are coming out with cameras with cell phone connection that are made for rvs, boats and cabins where the isn't internet. I haven't had any trouble since but I know that I've tried everything to prevent it from happening.

Converter theft

Be careful about trying to put something to stop them from stealing parts, they will still take your part, they'll cut whatever they have to to steal what they want. These guys are animals and don't care how much damage they do.

Bright orange VHT paint works well - turns a little yellow after considerable mileage. I used electrical tape to mask my license plate letters/numbers on the converter before I painted it. Pulled the tape off leaving very readable, rust colored license info. Don't seem to be able to attach a file picture - aging is not for sissies.

Take it off and replace it with a test pipe. They won’t step that. If you have inspections in your state put it on for inspection purposes only

First of all, I have never heard of stolen catalytic converters - must be some lousy neighborhood you are parking in. I suppose there is some platinum or other rare metal that could be harvested for a few bucks in the thieves pockets, but my mirrors cost $650 each - there is no way to lock every single part on your RV. I suspect this level of thief has a jack available so lowering the chassis probably won't solve your problem. I'd move my rig to a safer spot.

I think a 5000 volts setup will do the trick don’t you?

I am just curious….your camera approach…that doesn’t seem to deter thieves in these mass department store and HD thefts. When the hoodie is deployed you can’t identify. They also don’t think cameras are a deterrent that gets the, caught. JMHO

Soon won't be an issue in California since the intellectuals in Sacramento want all electric vehicles! 😜🤯🤭

Been a National problem for years. VERY valuable and out of site while doing the deed. High profile vehicles are easy targets, no jack required.
