Brake controller wiring

Just bought a 07 Winnebago aspect in nov. getting ready for first ever trip and to Daytona Bike Week. Am working on getting a brake controller installed for my MC trailer . everything I read, the unit is prewired for the controller with a plug near the steering wheel, there is a wad of wires tied together that I am a little shy about un doing there appears to be a socket with 6 prongs in the bunch. that is the only socket I see any advice on this matter and what to look for and where

Check at etrailer.com. They are very knowledgeable about such things. I think you are looking for a brown 6 pin connector, behind the hood release up near the firewall.
I have 07 myself and decided on surge brakes on my tow dolly instead of electric brakes.

On the Fords, there is a spot for factory brake controller, usually a square cut out above radio to the left. Ford sometimes sticks a coin holder there or just a square cubby hole. The brake controller wires and plug will be attached to the back of that.

Current E-450, pop that coin holder/square cubby hole out and brake controller plug clipped to the back of that. You should have something similar. Wild goose chase looking by hood release/fire wall.

With my brake controller, I needed an adapter to go from Ford plug to Tekonsha plug. Sold on Tekonsha web site, and then it was plug and play. The Ford plug did not directly plug into the brake controller.

My plug was behind and above radio, but I have a 2012. Hope you it, maybe try some Google action or call Ford or Winnebago.
