We take I-80/94 east of I-294 when visiting family in Indiana. It is NOT fun under high traffic conditions which is during the daytime. It is fine after 9:00pm when we head back home. If you want a less stressful experience, drive late through there, otherwise tough it out, stay in the lane second from right, and brake often.
Personally, I would do it with our motorhome and tow vehicle regardless of the time of day as it is a good route. At exit #9 in Indiana, the gas is most often pretty cheap compared to where we live in Illnois, so it is our fill-up place.
